Why do we need an occasion to dress up? Every New Year’s Eve rolls around and I go to another party that’s fun, but everyone is wearing sweaters. I wanted to end the year and start a new one feeling fabulous and like nothing stood in my way, so I put on this glam dress, added some extra shimmery eyeshadow, and added these earrings. Thankfully, my man loves dressing up too, so he put on his suit and there we arrived, glam as all get out.
Everyone was so confused and thought we had come from another party or were going to some dance afterwards, but I shrugged and simply said, “I just wanted to dress up.” People thought we were crazy for doing such a thing. I knew they would feel that way as I got ready. I almost even talked myself out of it. But I figured, screw it, I’ll just dress up cause I want to.
It got me thinking, Why don’t we dress how we want to dress?
Why do we need a certain event to tell us to get dressed up, when everyday we can dress to the nines cause we very well feel like it?
So how about we forget about the looks or the stares? Wear what you want to wear everyday. Some days that will be sweats, and others, a beautiful dress and heels. Express yourself and wear your expression on your sleeves.
